Yalda Night 2015

YALDA is an Iranian festival celebrated on the “longest and darkest night of the year. It is a time when friends and family gather together to eat, drink and read poetry (especially Hafez) until well after midnight. Fruits and nuts are eaten and pomegranates and watermelons are particularly significant. The red color in these fruits symbolizes the crimson hues of dawn and glow of life. This year IrNUT was hosting a nice international gathering on Monday Dec. 21st. People were served Yalda cookies & snacks and also enjoyed folklore dance performance by 3 teams and live Persian music. They had the opportunity to mingle with other friends and play games together.
